Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar started his journey into the field of Advanced Laparoscopy with a dream of incorporating it into cancer surgery and bringing the magic of laparoscopy within the reach of cancer patients.
Lap. Radical Hysterectomy was performed for first time in India by Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar which has been popularized the world over as the “Pune Technique”. He has trained many a surgeons and gynaecologists including renowned senior faculties at an international level. He is the first Indian surgeon to win an Award at AAGL (American Association of Gynac. Laparoscopists) held at Chicago, USA.
He has demonstrated live surgeries in many surgical workshops all parts of India in last five years and has been invited as an expert on laparoscopic colorectal, pancreatic, oesophageal and gynaecological cancer surgery all over the world where he has also demonstrated live surgeries in many countries. Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar is faculty at the AAGL and member of the AAGL Oncology Committee. He is also a reviewer for many scientific journals including the JMIG (Elsevier Editorial System).
